4th Judicial Drug Task Force
In January of 2019, AJRC began attending the 4th Judicial Drug Task Force meetings. Since then, we have been a source of community oversight and advocacy for community members impacted by the DTF. Ongoing work sparked by what we learned at these meetings includes research into Benton County’s confiscation practices and a partnership with the University of Arkansas School of Law to provide pro bono support to targets of asset forfeiture. See our Public Meeting Calendar to find out when the next DTF meeting is and join us.
Washington County Criminal Justice Study
Through tireless advocacy by the community, including AJRC, the Washington County Quorum Court funded a Criminal Justice Assessment to evaluate the current state of our system. It was completed by the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) in August 2020. The assessment highlighted the need for a criminal justice coordinating committee as foundational to effect meaningful change in the Washington County criminal system. AJRC continues to advocate for the creation and funding of a CJCC representative of the community it serves to address the flaws of our current system outlined in the assessment. Contact AJRC to learn more about how we’re putting the pressure on our Quorum Court to remediate the findings of the study. Read the findings and recommendations of the assessment here.
